About Dunedin Casino
Our philosophy - to provide our patrons with an exceptional entertainment experience and to maintain and enhance our reputation as New Zealand's Leading Boutique Casino.
A sweeping grand staircase, opulent gaming rooms outfitted in blue damask, gilded light fittings reaching up to the magical glass dome roof ... this is the elegance and style of the Dunedin Casino.
Housed in the former Grand Hotel, and designed by prominent Italian architect Louis Boldini, the Hotel, completed in 1883, was considered one of the finest Hotels in the southern hemisphere, the Grand has hosted countless prime ministers and dignitaries, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1963.
In 1999, the former hotel underwent a $14.5 million remodel. Strong emphasis was placed on restoring the interior 'to it's former glory' and Dunedin Casino emerged as one of the finest Casino's of its kind.
The boutique casino is now stand alone in New Zealand in its ability to offer the opulence and grandeur of yesteryear, combined with world class gaming. This is highlighted in the Gainsborough Room, once one of the most elegant dining rooms in Australasia.
Today Dunedin Casino is located in the heart of the Southern Cross Hotel complex.
It would be our pleasure to invite you to be our guest at Dunedin Casino. Whether you are a serious gambler, or a visitor to the city, this boutique Casino will provide you with an unforgettable experience.
